   The University offers the following scholarships to students with limited financial resources. Students may apply for more than one scholarship. However, since the University intends to grant the scholarships to as many students as possible, students are allowed to receive only one scholarship at a time. (An exception to this rule is the Entrance Examination Scholarship. See number 6 below).

redball.gifSCHOLARSHIPS FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

1. University of the Sacred Heart Scholarship
   Loan of the whole or partial tuition (¥350,000 - ¥650,000/year).

2. Miyashirokai (Alumnae Association) Special Scholarship
    Stipend for fourth-year students who are of excellent academic standings (¥500,000/year).

3. Madeleine Sophie Barat Special Award
    Stipend for sophomore  who are of excellent academic standings coming up to our educational principles based on the spirit of Madeleine Sophie Barat who founded the first Sacred Heart School.

4. Elizabeth Britt Fund Scholarship   (Almnae Scholarship)
    Stipend of the whole tuition (¥650,000/year) for above first-year students (except transferring students) who have especially limited financial resources and attain excellent academic standings. Maximum of two students per year among those who want to apply for or are already granted a loan ("University of the Sacred Heart Scholarship" or "Nihon Gakusei Shien Kikou Scholarship").

5. University of the Sacred Heart Fund Scholarship(Financial Support)
   Each year this scholarship will be awarded to up to five students who require financial supports. The scholarship amount is equivalent to one half of the tuition fee.

6. University of the Sacred Heart Fund Scholarship(Excellence Scholarship))
  Each year this scholarship will be awarded to up to three second-year students (excluding newly transferred students) with excellent academic achievement. The scholarship amount is equivalent to one half of the tuition fee..

7. University of the Sacred Heart Excellence Scholarship

  Each year this scholarship will be awarded to up to three third-year students with excellent academic achievement. The scholarship amount is equivalent to one half of the tuition fee.

8. Nihon Gakusei Shien Kikou (Japan Student Services Organization) Scholarships (Loans) To be paid back within the appointed period.   To be paid back within the appointed period.
1st Type No interest.
2nd Type No interest while in the University.
3% interest (maximum) after graduation.
   It is possible to have both the lst and the 2nd types mentioned above.

   Scholarships (Loans) given in 2009:
1st Type Students living at home ¥30,000 or ¥54,000/month
depending on the student's choice
Students living away from home ¥30,000 or ¥64,000/month
depending on the student's choice
2nd Type ¥30,000; ¥50,000; ¥80,000; or ¥100,000; ¥120,000/month
depending on the student's choice

   The number of scholarships shall be allotted to each academic institution by the Organization. Nevertheless, under certain circumstances, it is possible to irregularly apply for the scholarships mentioned above, particularly if the student suffers a severe financial setback.

9. The University of the Sacred Heart Entrance Examination Scholarship (3-subject Written Examination)
    Stipend for those students who attain the 10 highest total scores on the 3-subject written entrance examination (¥325,000/year). Students who receive this stipend can also apply for other loans at the same time.

10. Other Scholarships

   Local public organizations and private scholarship foundations grant scholarships through the University or through their own channels.

    These scholarships are for foreign students studying at their own expense at the University of the Sacred Heart.

Stipend of ¥48,000/month (in 2016)

1. Sacred Heart Scholarships

2. Miyashirokai (Alumnae Association) Scholarship
    Stipend of the whole tuition (¥540,000/year in2016)

3. Nihon Gakusei Shien Kikou (Japan Student Services Organization) Scholarships
   To be paid back within the appointed period.
1st Type No Interest
2nd Type No interest while in graduate school.
3% interest (maximum) after finishing graduate school.

   It is possible to have both the lst and the 2nd types.

   Scholarships (Loans) given in 2009:
1st Type Master of Arts Programs ¥50,000 or ¥88,000/month
depending on the student's choice
2nd Type ¥50,000; ¥80,000; ¥100,000; or ¥130,000; ¥150,000 /month
depending on the student's choice
Doctor of Philosophy Program ¥80,000 or ¥122,000/month
depending on the student's choice

   The number of scholarships awarded varies shall be allotted to each academic institution by the Organization.
