OTHER STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS
Students may choose to attend study abroad programs at universities other than the partner universities, if they obtain permission from the faculty members of the department in which they are enrolled and approval from the university in advance. A maximum of 30 credits acquired in the program can be transferred to the university. Up to one yearfs absence for study abroad will be treated as part of the period of enrollment at our university.
INTENSIVE SUMMER LANGUAGE PROGRAMS
Attending various language programs abroad during summer vacation gives students opportunities not only to learn each language, but to foster an international point of view.
Summer programs currently recommended by the university are available in the U.S.A., Canada, the U.K., France, Germany, Korea and Taiwan. Students attending summer programs at assigned universities can apply for transfer of credits to our university.
RESOURCES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The International Center provides several types of assistance for the international undergraduate students.
1) After admission, a series of special orientations and a welcome party are held for the international students by the International Center. In addition, a Japanese student enrolled at USH will be assigned to each international student who will assist registration for the courses, give advice on campus life , as well as a variety of other useful information on daily life in Japan.
2) After admission, the Dean of the International Center will interview the first-year students individually twice a year in the spring and fall, and the second year students once a year.
3) In cooperation with academic advisors and faculty, the International Center will provide the students with advice and support.
4) A Tutor System is available for undergraduate and graduate students in their fields of study and research.
5) The International Center offers international students several occasions to come in contact with Japanese students in cross-cultural functions and activities.
