This course is an introduction to various approaches to the study of poetry. In With Honors (1994), a motion picture directed by Alek Keshishian, Monty, a Harvard senior, is trying to complete his thesis and to graduate "with honors." When he meets Simon, who recites Walt Whitman's poems, Monty realizes the existence of what is really important in life. We will watch the film, enjoy the poems, and discuss how the world of poetry influences our lives.
