This course is an introduction to various approaches to the study of poetry. We will begin with Sylvia (2003), a film which depicts the last few years in the life of Sylvia Plath. After her failed marriage to Ted Hughes, Plath experienced the productive period of writing the poems in Ariel. We will watch the film and encounter the poems by Plath, Hughes, and other famous poets.
