This course will introduce basic American cultural values through background reading on topics including: Immigration, Education, Minorities, The Changing Role of Women, Politics, Urbanization, The Media, Arts, etc. Further readings from various sources, videos, movies, documentaries will be used to show the contemporary scene and how traditional values are affecting present day behavior and institutions.
Class participation; written reports based on research (topics chosen by students); oral reports to the class

Students will be expected to participate actively in the class, giving opinions about topics, summarizing materials, doing individual research and reporting to the class.
