A computer skills class in English to ensure that students are able to find reliable information in English and use it for oral and written communication. Students choose a topic, use the internet to research that topic in English, write a speech on the topic, and use PowerPoint to make a computer presentation in English in front of the class.

Attendance will be very important to assure that the student gets sufficient time on the computer. If students are frequently absent or late, it will be very difficult to pass.
授業計画
The first step to communication is access to reliable information. It is very important for International Studies students to be able to use the Internet in English in order to access websites around the world and improve their ability to think globally. Students will choose a topic related to International Studies and research it in English on the internet. Their research will be summarized in a speech that will be presented using PowerPoint slides. During the course, advice will be given in the following areas: (1)how to find information related to International Studies topics in English on the Web (2)how to judge the reliability of websites for academic purposes (3)awareness of copyright and what constitutes plagiarism (4)how to correctly format pages for academic writing or publication in English (5)organization of a written report or speech in English (6)correct citing of online references used in a report (7)basics of graphic layout for PowerPoint slides: color harmony, composition, contrast, etc., (8)public speaking: presence, body language, voice, eye contact, pronunciation, speed of speaking, etc.
