The course is designed for students interested in teaching English to Japanese elementary school students and Junior high students who are taking English class for the first time. The basics in phonics instruction are introduced as a key method. Much of the class activities are focused on pronunciation, as the first English sound that a child encounters is a crucial factor in his/her development of the language.
