By the completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Accurately transcribe English and Japanese by using phonetic symbols. 2. Analyze the collected phonetic data. 3. Describe and discuss the findings of their research/survey/experiment. 4. Summarize and orally present their thesis.
This course is the continuation of 4年英語学演習2-1. The topics in the second semester include sound symbolism, a contrastive analysis of English and Japanese, and teaching pronunciation. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to techniques for analyzing phonetic data and discussing their findings in academic papers. All students are encouraged to critically evaluate the findings presented by others and are required to actively participate in class discussions.
Reading materials will be distributed in class.
