The purpose of the course is to have students learn how to read in depth and appreciate works of literature.
The course engages students in reading works of the three genres of literature (poetry, prose, drama). Both English and American literature will be studied. Classes will be conducted mainly in English.
Reading materials will be distributed in class.
Supplementary reading materials may be distributed in class.
Students are expected to come to class having read assigned materials.
Evaluation will be based on examinations, (group discussions,) (presentations,) and attendance.
