| The goal of this course is for students to build on their current oral English skills and develop a greater mastery of the skills used in speaking English both in everyday situations and in formal presentations.
| One part of the course will focus on fluency--developing smoother speaking ability through a variety of common topics. Another part of the course will focus on speaking in more formal situations--giving presentations to other groups or before the class. We will also spend time building vocabulary with idioms, proverbs and common, informal English phrases. Students will be expected to participate actively in pairs, small groups, before the class, and with the teacher.
| Course textbook information will be given on the first day of class.
| A good dictionary, with an "English-English" function is recommended.
| The class size will be limited to 24. If more than 24 students apply for the course, a priority system will be used to select students. The first priority students will be those now in the teacher's certificate program. Second priority will be senior (4th year) students, third-juniors and fourth-sophomore students.
| Evaluation will be based on active class participation, an exam at the end of each semester, and three class projects.
