By the end of this course, students will (1) be able to read a research article on second language learning (2) be able to critically evaluate a research article on second language learning (3) be able to find an academic source in the library (4) be able to use a variety of reading strategies to understand and evaluate a text (5) be able to understand and use a large variety of academic vocabulary words
This course focuses on topics of interest in second language learning. Students will read, present, and discuss research articles on topics such as communicative competence and second language listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Students will learn how to interpret the articles critically, by considering carefully how the research was conducted and the implications of research for language teaching and learning.
